I'd like to see a way to moderate posts and replies before allowing to be viewed live. This way I can eliminate the worker bees hired to spam forums.

no it is not possible, but can be that by [url=view.php/topic/2018-05-16074734358fc/p/1#2018-05-16105924478de]activating the private forum[/url], it will avoid spam.
