I feel that TinyMCE is a much better experience than the traditional BBCode (or Markdown) editor.
As for the potential risk of XSS attacks, snippets of PHP code to prevent XSS attacks are available online.

Sorry but no, I wouldn't change the BBcode / Markdown editor to an HTML editor 😠

It is physically possible, I will ammit, but it will be a lot more work and change up for them to do so. Programming after finished product is more complicated then you think, I guess you can make a plugin for HTML editor, which I might do in the feature.
